Missing Connections

mousetrap 3Last night when I got back from the hospital I went to the kitchen to find some supper. As I was eating, Eliah came over to the table and looked at me with contemplative eyes.

“You know,” he said, “I’ve started getting to know you more.”

“Yes,” I replied, “and I’m getting to know you more.”

“Now I can start setting traps…” my mind started racing ahead with visions of being wrapped up in rope and sticky stuff, etc. But then I realized he hadn’t finished talking. “…for bugs and mice and spiders that get in the house. My mom doesn’t like it when they come inside.”

Whew! Somehow I missed the connection but am relieved to know the traps aren’t for me!
